Names in the Yearbook
Wednesday, December 05, 2018 9:00 AM

Is your student’s legal name Alexander, but everyone knows them as Zane? Does the apostrophe in your last name usually get left out? To request a different name or specific punctuation to be used in the yearbook, please download, print, and fill out a yearbook name change request form, or get a form from the main office.

All information on the form must be filled out completely. A teacher or other member of JPS staff must also sign the form before it will be accepted. All forms can be dropped off in the main office. Forms must be received no later than March 1, 2019.

Third Annual Rocker Rendezvous
Wednesday, December 05, 2018 8:40 AM

Want to attend a fun, adults-only party, while also raising money for Justice Page Middle School? Come to the 3rd Annual Rocker Rendezvous! Don your favorite concert tee and mingle with fellow Page parents for an evening of food, drinks, and music. This party will feature the music of Justice Page’s own rock legends—Staff Infection—and will raise funds to support the arts at Justice Page. Grab some friends and get your VIP backstage passes here!

The Rocker Rendezvous is our second Page Party of the school year. What’s a Page Party, you ask? You may already know them as Great Gatherings, Adventures, or FUNdraisers from your elementary school. But for those uninitiated, Page Parties are social gatherings that JPS parents host in their homes and elsewhere. Tickets will be sold online on a rolling basis, until events fill. All proceeds will help support and enhance JPS classroom activities. Events range in price and activities in order to appeal to all families and interests.

If you think you may be interested in hosting your own Page Party, please contact Stephanie Willingham at or Bridget Gernander at

Dental Services
Wednesday, December 05, 2018 8:30 AM

JPS will again offer to host Children’s Dental Services (CDS) for our students this school year. CDS provides dental care during the school day which may include exams, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatment, sealants, fillings, crowns, and extractions.

These services are offered at a reduced cost to families who are income eligible. They offer a sliding scale payment program to these families. CDS will also bill insurance for services done at school.

Consent forms in Spanish, Somali, and English are available in the Main Office. In order for CDS to hold a clinic at JPS we must have at least 10 students complete a consent form to receive treatment. Completed forms should be turned in to the Health Office.

Questions? Call the JPS health office at 612-668-4064 or Children’s Dental Services at 612-746-1530.

MPS Haiku Contest
Wednesday, December 05, 2018 8:10 AM

Minneapolis Public Schools students and staff are eligible to enter a haiku contest sponsored by the Minneapolis-Ibaraki Sister City Association (MISCA). Ibaraki is located next to Osaka, Japan, as is one of Minneapolis' Sister Cities. The contest is open to all MPS students and staff, and will be judged by members of the MISCA. An awards ceremony will occur in April, 2019 here in Minneapolis.

Haikus originated in Japan and are three-line poems containing five, seven, and five syllables respectively. Haiku often refer to the seasons of the year and should evoke images in nature. Use of repetition of sounds, alliterations, and words with multiple meanings and homonyms are often found in Haiku.

Gift Cards Needed
Wednesday, December 05, 2018 7:50 AM

With the holidays just around the corner, Page's social workers are holding a gift card drive to help our students and families.

Gift cards help struggling families with the holidays and beyond. We would love to have gift cards on hand to distribute where help is most needed. In particular, gift cards from the following stores would be most useful: SuperAmerica (now Speedway), Cub, Walmart, and Target. We’re especially in need of gas cards (e.g. SuperAmerica/Speedway), but any cards in any amount are welcome!
If you have gift cards you'd like to donate to this cause, please drop them off with Cassie Zonnefeld (room 105C), or in the main office.

Wednesday, December 05, 2018 7:40 AM

Do you have a camera and know how to use it? Are you willing to take pictures at events for use in the yearbook, like this week’s fall play performances, or next week’s Multicultural Night? If you’re able to help at any of the events listed, or would like to be contacted when other events arise, please sign up to be a photographer.
