I am proud to be a part of the Ramsey Middle School music faculty!  I have taught instrumental music in public schools for over ten years, including Ramsey Junior High in St. Paul, Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, and in the Brooklyn Center Public School system.  Over this time I have been fortunate to collaborate with many composers-in-residence as well as work as a section coach for MMEA All State Band Camp. I developed a curriculum that stresses intrinsic motivation and empowers students to make decisions about their education.

I grew up in Apple Valley, Minnesota, and I come from a family of musicians and educators.  I received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from DePaul University in Chicago in 1997, and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of St. Thomas in 2010.

In addition to teaching, I am a freelance woodwind specialist and have performed with many bands in the Twin Cities, Chicago, and New York City.  I enjoy biking, running, golf, and learning the trombone. I live in St. Paul with an amazing wife, two wonderful sons, and two cats!
