Connecting Parents to Educational Opportunities (CPEO)

Justice Page Middle School, in partnership with the Office of Communications, Engagement and External Relations, will be offering the CPEO program at our school again this year. CPEO is a free program, designed for parents, meant to develop equal partnership with families. CPEO curriculum helps families understand children’s social and emotional development, and develop skills for navigating the school system and collaborating with staff. Program details

Bed Time Story

All JPS families are welcome to join Principal Erin Rathke for a bedtime story on Monday, September 2 at 7:00 PM via Facebook Live. Join the Justice Page Middle School Minneapolis Facebook group for access to this event, in addition to school-related news and discussions.

Immunizations Needed

If you will have a 7th grader for the 2019-2020 school year: Please provide the health office with updated immunization records. Your 7th grader will need the following vaccines:

  • Meningococcal
  • Tdap

Summer is a great time to get this done! Bring in any updated immunization forms to the JPS Health Office or have your doctor fax them to 612.668.4050. If you don’t have a regular doctor, MPS students can get immunizations at Minneapolis School-Based Clinics from June 11 - August 16:

Summer Break Resources

Minneapolis Public Schools and our partners have provided this list of resources available for families during summer break.

Summer Eats

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that students continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation, when they do not have access to school lunch or breakfast. The 2019 Summer Food Service Program will run Monday, June 11 through Friday, August 17. There is no service on Wednesday, July 4. Meals and snacks served through the SFSP are free to all children ages 1-18. For more information and program locations, see the Summer Eats MN website, or download their mobile app.

High School Summer Reading Lists

Students starting high school this fall should be aware that many local schools have summer reading expectations! Students may be required to read certain books over the summer.

Fall Sports Registration Night at Washburn

If your 7th and 8th graders are considering participating in fall sports at Washburn, this event is for you! Fall sports include cross country, football, girls swimming and diving, girls tennis, soccer, and volleyball.

Washburn Running Club

Is your soon-to-be 7th or 8th grader interested in running cross country at Washburn HS this fall?

Sign up for the Washburn Summer Running Club!

A few details:

  • Running club is for those entering grades 7 or higher in the fall
  • New runners are welcome — runs are geared to your experience level
  • It’s a great way to meet team members and have fun
  • We run Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 AM and Saturdays at 8:30 AM (meet at Washburn High school parking lot off 49th Street by the garbage dumpsters)
  • First run is June 18; last run is August 10
  • Runs are supervised by coaches and parents
  • Optional tax-deductible donation of $75 (to pay our coaches!)
  • The club is sponsored by the Washburn Running Club, a non-profit group established by Washburn High School cross country running families
  • Join our Facebook group (Washburn Running Club Summer Program 2019!!)

Summer High School Gymnastics Camp

If your student is considering joining the Washburn High School Girls Gymnastics Team as a 7th, 8th, or 9th grader next year, or would just like to join a great group of girls for an intense summer workout, this is the camp for you!

High School Girls Gymnastics Camp runs from June 10 through July 31, Monday through Thursday, from 9 AM to 1 PM (no camp the week of July 4). Come for one day, or come every day! Camp is $10 per day, and is held at North Star Elementary School, 2410 Girard Ave N. Every day, we will warm up, stretch, do lines, and hit all 4 events: vault, bars, beam, and floor. Plus, conditioning, games, and fun!!

Washburn Football Summer Workouts

Attention 8th grade students interested in football! Washburn 2019 Summer Football Workouts start Monday, June 10 at the Washburn High School Weight Room. Workouts will be Monday through Thursday, from 2 PM to 4 PM.

Please wear athletic shorts, shirts, and cleats or tennis shoes.

Wilderness Survival Camp

Camp Youthline is offering a week-long, free wilderness survival summer camp at MLK Park for middle school students June 17-20 from 1-5 PM. Activities include geocaching, rock climbing, fire building, shelter making, and leave no trace games. Free lunch and snacks are provided.

Orientation Nights

Mark your calendars! Orientations will be held on the following dates this fall:
Wednesday, August 28: 6th grade orientation
Thursday, August 29: 7th/8th grade orientation

We will only have one early release day next year, on Wednesday, September 25, for goal setting conferences. Students will be released at 1 PM on that day.
