Safia Qanyare

My name is Safia Qanyare and I became a part of the RHINO staff in 2012. Prior coming to this great school, I worked as a medical interpreter all over the state. I received my BS in Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2008.

As a Somali Bilingual Educator at Justice Page Middle School, I have the privilege of working with English Language Learners (ELL) Students and their families. My main role is to establish communication between students, staff, and their families, so the students can be successful in the academic mainstream classrooms. I support students in and outside of the classroom with any and ALL challenges that they may have or face.

As a former ELL student with parents that didn't speak the English language, I know how important it is for the students to have parental support regardless of their language barrier. I strive to see students achieve their educational goals and the shared responsibilies of the students, families, and staff are well communicated.

I was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, but I call Minnesota home. I currently reside in Savage, MN with my husband Abdisalam, my two beautiful daughters Siham and Miadah, and my little prince Muzdalif. I enjoy reading, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
